My name is Jason. I moved to North Carolina in 2003. I was fortunate to live in Emerald Isle for my first several years here in the tar heel state. Living on the beach was awesome. My dad is big into fishing and as soon as I got here he started taking me offshore fishing for mahi, tuna, and king mackerel and the occasional wahoo.
I was in no position to afford a boat so I scored a kayak from a marine who was re-locating and couldn't take it with him. For $200 I got a mostly like new Wilderness Systems Pamlico tandem sit in with a rudder. Not the ideal fishing platform, but it got me on the water and I did many, many expeditions in that boat. I took the front seat out and installed flush mount rod holders behind the rear seat. I caught a lot of fish in that thing too. One weekend I left it unattended at the marina near my apartment, and of course someone else borrowed it and never returned it.
That next year I bought a new kayak, got it on sale from Dick's. This time I decided to get one already for fishing. The Perception caster served me quite well over the years. Eventually I would move to Greenville, and then Kinston. I took the Perception with me and did a lot of exploring on the tar and neuse rivers. When I got a really good job offer in RTP I was faced with moving into a small 1 bedroom apartment. No room for a kayak really. So I put it on craigslist and sold it for $300. I can guarantee I had well over $100 worth of fun in that boat.
Now I have a lot more room and recently purchased a new kayak, the Native Slayer propel. Really digging this boat so far. Hopefully I will be sharing some good fishing reports and videos from the many excursions I have planned with it.

ReplyDeleteGreat reasonably priced throwing knives. The only problem is I suck at throwing them. I'll eventually get a technique figured out and then you better not be standing down range my website. Right now, I'd likely only knock someone out.
